#1. Imagine our joy when our Instructional Specialist, Reena Nechama Schultz received the Indie Excellence Book Award 2014 for the category Children-Religion for her book, Devorahrella, a modern day Jewish version of the traditional fairy tale, Cinderella. The National Indie Excellence® Awards (NIEA) was created to to be a champion of self-publishers that go the extra mile to produce books of excellence in every aspect. Here's the proud author/illustrator holding her book with the shining gold medal award sticker. Yasher koach Reena! #2. In conjunction with our Yom Ha'Atzmaut 66 Celebration, long distance learning came to our third grade when we connected with the third grade class of the Nili School in Zikron Yakov, Israel. The Nili students came back to school after their school day was over because they were so excited to Skype with Orly's class. Students from both sides shared questions and answers about their school and daily lives totally in Hebrew. For example, how many kids in your class? what subjects do you study? Watch a clip of the live classroom connection below. #3. When our children come back to school in September they will have a new mural to look at in the MPR. Joining the other three murals is this year's Yom Ha'Atzmaut 66 all-school creation. Take a look at some of the delightful figures that fill up our school's Jewish star.
