If You Come To Earth By Sophie Blackall Many years ago I started a home decorating fantasy in my head. An, if I could, I would decorate a room in my house by children’s book illustrators, Jerry Pinckney and then another room by Patricia Polacco. I’ve just added another illustrator to paint the walls in my imaginary house, Sophie Blackall. Oooeey! Her illustrations are my definition of magnificent. Add to this, lyrical words and you’ve got one special and gorgeous book: If You Come To Earth. I can’t resist her lines and her patterns, her perspectives and details. Written as a letter to a Visitor from Outer Space, a child writes a welcoming message that we are all a part of this diverse Earth, we share it and must take care of it and each other. This beautiful book is a book for sharing by teachers, and with inter-generational family members. Look at the whimsical PS below. I love it!
